Virtual Events
We’re looking for fun new ways to engage and connect with our readers in these strange times! We’ve had success with Instagram Live Q&As, Virtual school visits on Zoom, and through our regularly scheduled Instagram storytimes Mon-Fri.
Would you like to schedule us for a virtual event?
We would love to hear from you and chat about how we might be able to work together. Please don’t hesitate to reach out!
Storytime
We’re live on Instagram every Mon-Fri at 7:30 pm PST sharing our favorite children’s books, and occasionally featuring our own. Tune in! or visit our IGTV channel to view past storytimes.
Panel Discussions
We’re happy to explore guest appearance opportunities on virtual panels alongside other authors and hosted by booksellers. Please contact us for more information.
School Visits
We love meeting and chatting with kids, whether virtually or in person (when it’s safe!). Our visits can last anywhere from 15 - 30 minutes.
Here’s what to expect from a school visit:
We like to invite a student to introduce us and lead the Q&A after the reading. If you’re lucky enough to be chosen for this job, here’s a letter we wrote to help you get ready.
Next, we introduce the book and we brainstorm with the class to come up with an idea for a brand new sketch featuring one of the characters in the book. It can be ANYTHING -- the funnier the better! This is EXACTLY how Eunice and I come up with ideas for pictures in our books, so it’s a great way to see what it’s like to be us!
Next, Sabrina reads the book while Eunice madly sketches on her iPad! We’ve drawn tigers on roller skates juggling dynamite, breakdancing jackrabbits eating lollipops, boogy-ing blueberries, and much more!
Then, Eunice does the BIG REVEAL and you get to see your ideas come to life as a sketch!
Finally, we answer your questions. You can ask how we make our books, where we get our ideas, our favorite ice cream flavors, what it’s like to work with your sister -- whatever strikes your fancy! We are an open book (har har), so ask us anything! :D
After our visit is over, we email your teacher the sketch that you came up with so that they can share it with the class. You can use the sketch as a color page or keep it as a memory of the visit!
Sometimes, a local book store sends an order form through your teacher so you can buy your own copy of our book in advance. If this happens and we get to meet you in person, we also stay after our visit to sign your book with your name and maybe even draw a funny picture. That said, with schools being closed we’re not sure when we’ll be able to do this again!
Are you interested in a virtual school event?
We do those too! Reach out for more information.
